PARENTS ARE IN THE TREATMENT ROOM FOR ALL DENTAL PROCEDURES

About 25 years ago, shortly after I first started practicing pediatric dentistry and I had young children of my own. It then occurred to me that if my child were in the dental chair with a bunch of strangers he might be upset. Upset at being in an unfamiliar situation without support of mom or dad. Shortly after that, I began to invite the parents to be with their child during all dental procedures. At that time it was unconventional for pediatric dentist to have parents “in the back”. Fortunately, it is more common today.
